Our Activities

As a branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society, we participate in International Commonwealth Activities and Youth Projects. We understand youth are the pillars of any nation. We are in process to launch various youth, educational, peace, reconciliation, relief and social development projects in coming time. We aim to bring together various stakeholders on board to achieve our vision which is a stronger empowerment of young people through holistic approach. At the Commonwealth Students' Welfare Group of India (CSWGI), we work with educationalists, students, diplomats, Socio-political leaders and youth leaders from not only in India but also across the 56 Commonwealth nations.

There are Eight Commonwealth countries in Asia, namely Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Singapore and Sri Lanka. There are RCS branches in all bar Brunei Darussalam and Maldives, plus branches and associated organisations elsewhere in the region. RCS Regional Co-ordinator for Asia maintains touch with all branches, helping to disseminate information and liaising over programmes and activities.

INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Our International Activities include regular visits to London for Royal Commonwealth Society Meetings, Commonwealth Meetings with diplomats, engagement with Commonwealth Secretariat, Institute of Commonwealth Studies (London), Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), RCS International Projects, Commonwealth Youth Projects (Canada, Singapore, UK, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives) to name a few. See Gallery for details.

A basic focus of the Commonwealth Cross-Cultural Youth Exchange Projects is developing leadership and team work skills while building self-confidence. It also aims to provide opportunities for young people to re-evaluate some of their beliefs, attitudes and assumptions, particularly around different cultures and their own priorities in life. The CSWGI has successfully delivered 16 projects with UK, Canada, Cyprus, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Many plans are underway for execution in coming months.

This project is selected to reflect the key priorities of the commonwealth including human rights, youth empowerment, international tensions, democracy, local governance and women in development. This project is designed to enable delegates and participants to explore jointly and through practical experience, the various issues relating to democracy developing locally, in respective participating countries and in other parts of the Commonwealth.

We are finalizing the opportunities of joint collaborations between CSWGI and other RCS branches to establish dialogue and foster closer bonds of cooperation and explore opportunities of joint workings. This involves potential partnership with like-minded organisations etc. See Gallery for details.

DIPLOMATIC ENGAGEMENT

One of the key actions and youth engagement activities which The CSWGI undertake in New Delhi is organising High Commission & Embassy interactive sessions with the Diplomats. These Diplomatic engagement sessions are to enhance the exposure of Indian Youth towards International Issues. We work closely with various High Commissions and Embassies based in New Delhi over youth projects, meetings, workshops, seminars, penal discussions and receptions to enlighten the youth about the values of Commonwealth, International Affairs and International Understanding we all share. We invite various organisations, individuals to support and partner with us to empower the deserved young people from within and outside the Modern Commonwealth. See Gallery for details.
