INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE CSWGI

The Commonwealth Students' Welfare Group of India (CSWGI) always welcomes youth, students and professionals as interns to work at our office in New Delhi. The interns will help us with completing our studies and researches, marketing of our events and our overall mission. They will gain valuable skills in relationship building, marketing, planning and organising events, budget management and volunteer coordination.

We have availability of such internship opportunities all throughout the year and also based on project basis.

Vice President / Head: Public Affairs 

​

TERM OF INTERNSHIP

The term of internship will be discussed individually. Preference is given to ambitious under-graduate and graduates, and young professionals seeking good references.

​

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Public Affairs and Events Intern will assist the team with a wide variety of tasks, including:

  • Support to the Public Affairs Team.

  • Event delivery support including logistical arrangements and stakeholder management.

  • Daily collation of a pan-Commonwealth media round-up.

  • Research and preparation of topical briefings.

  • Events Management: Preparation for events includes creating a marketing plan and budget, a Facebook presence, online event registration and marketing for participants. Drafting press releases and a thank you letter to participants and sponsors.

  • General Marketing: General marketing responsibilities will include updating existing web content, creating new web content, and delivery for the CSWGI’s social media channels. Write press releases as needed, create new or update existing presentation materials (PowerPoint, brochure, etc.).

  • Other administrative duties as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Applicants are required to have their own laptop and must be proficient in all Microsoft software applications and have above-average communication and organisational skills. He or she must also be able to multitask, think outside the box, think on their feet and troubleshoot problems. The Public Affairs and Events Intern should have the following characteristics:

  • An ability to communicate clearly and politely, in person, on the phone and via email with a wide range of people (including diplomatic representatives).

  • Ability to work in a team and independently.

  • Innovative approach to work.

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize a varied workload.

  • An ability to write in clear, concise English.

  • Experience of using social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.

  • Confidence using the Microsoft Office suite and a willingness to learn to use new IT tools.

  • An interest in international relations, communications and events.

  • Experience of supporting / working with young people.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Fluency in English is desired; Knowledge of Hindi and other local Indian language is advantageous.

​COMPENSATION

Our internships are unpaid; however, we do have some stipends that may be awarded to interns based on results of their work.
